There’s some irony in the Ho Chi Minh City Hall being a stately old French colonial building. Built in the early 20th century, it’s only slightly less ornate than the building it’s clearly modeled on–the Hotel de Ville in Paris.

In front of the building is a large statue of Uncle Ho himself, seated, teaching a Vietnamese child. The man who devoted so much of his life to throwing off the yoke of French colonialism now has pride of place in front of this oh-so-French building.

Follow here to read up the short history of this building!
